Surgery is one of the most important aspects of cancer treatment. Excellence in cancer surgery is achieved through a deep understanding of tumor biology, cancer spread patterns, and advanced surgical skills. If not correctly addressed, cancers can recur, significantly impacting a patient’s life. A well-trained surgical oncologist possesses the expertise required to remove tumors effectively while minimizing recurrence risks and preserving quality of life.

KASO aims to promote surgical oncology as a distinct specialty and ensure that high-quality cancer care is accessible across Kerala. To achieve this, the association is actively involved in manpower generation, continuous medical education, skill enhancement, and research in cancer surgery. We conduct training programs, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions targeting surgeons in training, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle complex cancer surgeries.

Public awareness is another key focus of KASO. We are committed to running cancer awareness campaigns to educate the public on the importance of specialized  surgical treatment for malignancies. We also provide guidance to help patients seek appropriate and expert surgical care.

To stay at the forefront of medical advancements, KASO collaborates with national and international experts for knowledge exchange and skill development. We also partner with governmental and non-governmental organizations that share our mission of improving cancer care.
